TOURANCE™ NEXT features a dual-compound tread layout whose specifications derive directly from the expertise gained in developing Metzeler’s renowned sport touring tires.
The two main project goals have concerned the supremacy in wet performance and mileage.
This combination was the initial step to obtain a new generation of compounds, whose top performance have been reached through Metzeler’s patented mixing process, capable to obtain an unmatched level of homogeneity of the components dispersed in the polymeric matrix, contributing to tire durability and wear regularity.
To achieve the best wet performance in the Enduro Street segment, including critical conditions like wet cornering grip and panic braking, Metzeler designed a blend of high dispersion silica, high-performance synthetic polymers mixed with proper resins and plastifying agents.
The rear sizes of TOURANCE™ NEXT adopt a dual compound solution, where the central stripe is approximately 40mm wide, to fully include the footprint area during straight up riding, and features a 50% content of silica and carbon black specifically developed to optimize mileage and power traction.
Side compound is a 100% silica which ensures maximized chemical grip on wet surfaces and grip for cornering and traction in all the other conditions.
The front sizes are made of a high silica content (>50%) blended with different typologies of polymers and resins whose recipe provides remarkable handling and both braking and cornering grip.
The tread pattern layout ensures that full silica compound is available as soon as the trajectory tips from straight into lean, providing great confidence of riding and safety feeling.
TOURANCE™ NEXT front tires feature a high stiffness structure made of rayon fibers ensuring stability, even at high speed, and when fully loaded with luggage and a passenger.
Rear TOURANCE™ NEXT features Interact™ technology with a three zones variable tension layout, providing a predictable riding behavior, and enabling a remarkable sporty capability.
The specific structure maximizes lateral support and trajectory precision during cornering; the benefit for the end user is a remarkable handling along with enhanced stability.
The Interact™ technology is capable to enable all benefits of dual compound technology, since the transition between the different compounds is mitigated by the variable stiffness of the carcass below, conveying a progressiveness in tire’s response.
